Succor's Music & Entertainment
Entrepreneurship Training
Internship Program is preparing today's students for tomorrow's workplace!
The Music and Entertainment Entrepreneurship Training Internship Program (MEETIP) is a joint venture of Succor and the Music Business Institute (MBI). The leading organization, Succor, specializes in education initiatives and MBI is an advocate organization that works to improve business and career opportunities for musicians and entertainment professionals.The purpose of the Succor/MBI Music and Entertainment Entrepreneurship Training Internship Program is to provide 20 high school and college students (ages 16-20) early exposure to the music and entertainment profession, giving them basic training in the skills and knowledge needed to become New Orleans’ next generation of music and entertainment professionals.
Program Structure
The program will occur during the academic school year. Students will receive weekly classroom instruction on the music and entertainment industry, as well as basic business writing and professional skills at the Succor Education Center.
Additionally, the interns will be placed in internship assignments with special music and entertainment mentors in multiple learning environments.
Interns will:
- Be paid a stipend
- Be monitored by staff and volunteers
- Intern 10 hrs/week
- Attend 2 hrs/week of classroom training
- Each week meet with staff to discuss assignments
- Receive evaluation from the mentors
Learning & Instruction
Recording
- Recording studio fundamentals, such as engineering and audio mixing
- Live sound engineering
- Music marketing and promotions
Distribution
- Record label management
- Channel distribution dynamics
- Physical and digital distribution methods
Retail
- Merchandising, selling music and music related products
